Ben's Canteen

Every gal loves a freebie now and then. I seemed to be on a lucky streak after winning a hair makeover at Daniel Galvin, cinema tickets, but this one was pretty special.

I was fortunate enough to be chosen as a Ben's Canteen Twitter winner and won a freebie meal for me and 3 buddies of my choice. #yesyesYES

Ben's Canteen - based on St John's Hill near Clapham Junction station - the ultimate place to visit after a long day. An intimate yet warm and inviting eatery, this is the perfect place to bring a date, or relax and have a laugh with a big group of chums. Remember to take full advantage of their 2-4-1 cocktails (I recommend the classic mojito).

Moving swiftly onto the foods... we were spoilt for choice as their menu is indeed comprehensive and certainly made our mouths salivate.

All of us girlies decided to go for the ultimate, which can only be described as sex on a plate.

225g Orkney rib-eye with a Portobello mushroom, onion & red wine sauce, watercress and hand cut chips "

Served rare, of course.

We decided to indulge ourselves and ordered plenty of sides...

Classic Mac n Cheese with bacon
Ben's Slaw & Green salad as an attempt to...you know, 'healthisize' our meal

Of course we couldn't not try the desserts

Strawberry eton mess with whipped cream and lemon curd
Who doesn't like eton mess?! What's not to like about strawberries and cream???

Jaffa Cake trifle - orange jelly and choc mousse.
Absolute heaven. The mousse on the trifle worked extremely well - not too heavy, perfect consistency and didn't overpower the orange jelly.

Honestly, everything about this place was perfect. The company, the atmosphere - the bangin' tunes (we had Superstition - Stevie Wonder play at some point).

The menu and the impeccable service you receive in this place is well worth the visit (NHS workers...bring your ID as you get discount...another perk!)

Thank you Ben's Canteen for having us!
