Instagram round up - 2016 so far

A photo posted by Frankie Lee (@joieandthevivre) on

I'm feeling like I haven't fully appreciated Instagram recently of late.
I've succumbed into the realms of Snapchat (find me - joieandthevivre) where everything happens a touch more faster, the opportunity to have fun pics with the option of adding a fun filter  (the dog and flower crown filter has been done to death, but it still makes me chuckle). Some could say that Snapchat has overtaken the humble filtered shot (even Instagram has taken note - they released their new feature Instagram Stories a couple of weeks ago.)

Even so, there is something wonderful about Instagram. I do try and find time to snap and upload, even if it kills the moment (sorry to everyone who has ever dined with me...)

If anything, it's worth it - each photo reminds me of how I was feeling at that moment, who I was with, and how much fun (generally speaking!) we are having. And a picture as they say, is priceless.

Here are my favorites of the year so far.

Ah, Vienna (March). Work does have it's perks.

A couple of weeks after the Vienna trip, we flew out to Ireland as the aussie crew had never been before. Cue overindulging and gluttony.

Yes. Just, all the yes. Did I mention overindulging?

The only thing about Ireland, in March, is that it's wet. After we got back I invested in a Timbaland waterproof down coat and some boots.

Ah, I remember making these for dinner with D and V - I was super worried they weren't going to taste good, and/or the fish wouldn't be right (I went to Waitrose and they dutifully said 'oh, we wouldn't recommend serving this raw) when I told them I was serving tuna canapes. Two hours before dinner was due to start.Deep breath in, and out...

This was when we went back to Bristol to see the crew for M's baby shower. H and F bought their house and could finally move in so we all went along to have a gander. Oh and er, the lads ended up being drafted to help move the huge 4 seater sofa from garage, tieing it onto the truck (and driving 20 minutes down the country road at a very slow speed) and finally through the hallway. Apart from the hallway could probably only fit a two seater. (Let's just say it took a good few hours what we thought was a 30min job).

Once that was in, the loveseat was also carted in. All of the sofa drama meant taking a window out and resealing, a lot of panic, and shouting 'Pivot!! Pivvvvotttt!' and helluva lot of laughter.

Love these girls x

April - Budapest. I've shared this with you before on my Budapest post. But I love this skirt. Now just waiting for the cooler season so I can bust this baby out again.

More Budapest.

Ah, C in his element - not one, but TWO R2D2's. Thank you to little X for his collection!

Ah, Flat Iron - you never disappoint (still one of the best steak restaurants in London, super purse-friendly prices).

I don't mean to sound cheesy, but it's funny how there is beauty in everything, even in the most mundane situation. This was taken when I was walking to my Tesco's to buy milk. What's better than flowers blossoming against a blue sky?

This pic was taken post brunch at our local, Front Room Cafe. Love how the shirt just pulled the look together even though it was a last minute choice when we were rushing and running super late.

Ok - there will be more Tuscany posts and photos, but this little snippet - my utter favourite dish in our 10 days in Tuscany. Beef ragu. I'll share more details about this joint soon...

Ah, we stayed in AirBnbs for most of our Tuscan trip, but to finish off, we stayed at the most ideallistic place, Borgo Pignano, for our friend's wedding that was taking place there.

My little monster. My bae. Thank you to Cats Protection in Archway for making the adoption process so simple and for being incredibly informative and helpful. Suprisingly, I haven't gotten all cat crazy and posted 583343093 photos and videos of him...yet. It's been a few months and Monty is settling in quite well. (I have a fair few funny tales to tell of him yet..the settling in period has had it's ups and downs!)

My uni gals. Love my baes. A cheeky trip to Wales to see L and her lil bump... had to be done.

...Canada. You beauty. I knew you were going to look great but I was taken away by this. We went to Canada first before heading to our US trip, but more posts to come of this trip later.

We hit Las Vegas, and then LA. Yeah, it really is true. The traffic is dreadful. But, Venice beach was worth it.

Onwards, to San Francisco - to Lombard St. with the prettiest house. Ever.

Coming back from holidays are never fun. Especially when it's your birthday as well. But, when you get given presents, it makes it all a touch easier. Especially when said present are Sophia Webster 'Evangeline' sandals.

Birthday treat - booze and tapas and board games with L. (The game was some crazy dragon game, still have no clue how top play it we were chatting for 5 hours straight.)

P's birthday drinks - messy messy. This was before the onset of many tequilas. Still sad I got all sicky and went home early on this night :(

C's birthday - Mum and dad came down to visit and mum was drafted in to help me with some cupcake baking (I went for the lemon and coconut recipe from the Lola's cupcakes cookbook).

My birthday treat to C was to take him to somewhere historical and pretty. Blenheim pretty much hit the mark on that front.

Sorry to jump back to Budapest again but I love how pretty this shot is... when can I go back?

Another birthday treat from bestie, S. The Breakfast Club showing in the middle of Kensington Gardens. With a free cookie, deckchairs and some popcorn. #happyFran

E came up for the day from Bristol just to see me for tapas. We caught up over everything as I don't get to see this one as often as I'd like to, but this snap makes me happy - it was taken in the middle of Finsbury Park where I'm spending a lot of my time in the evenings at the moment (damn you, Pokemon Go.)

What do you do after spending 3 hours cleaning, sweeping, and de-weeding the patio and the planters (love growing things!) Aperol. Lots of it. Love this jersey too - wish it was a men's size though - baggier is way better!

Last but not least, Swizterland. We went last weekend asit was a belated christmas trip for C. I'm still working off the fondue as we speak!
