Five TV shows you should be watching right now

The antithesis to December. After a whole month of festivities, drinking and partying and generally staying out and skipping out on precious 'me time', January is the perfect time to get started on those shows you've been meaning to catch up with and have been meaning to get stuck into - although whenever I'm about to start one show it seems like everyone else has already moved onto the next 'hot' thing!

Since we are 12 days in, I can hold my hands up and say I have indulged in some decent 'me' time...(I've been binging, one might say...!) but I wanted to share a few of my favourite shows that are keeping me on the sofa right now.

Here are the good, the bad, and the guilty...(meaning the awful kind but its soooooo bad that it's good!)

The Affair

I started watching The Affair in November after I had gotten bored of watching Geordie Shore (I love this but after 6 episodes back to back I had to call it a day) and needed a bit much needed change. I loved it - the darkness of the characters gets you hooked. This show stars Dominic West (yes please) and Ruth Wilson (who is very good indeed) as the main characters, Noah and Alison. As the title suggests, they embark on an affair.
The character Noah is a family man who has a wife and four children. Alison is also married to her high school sweetheart of some sort called Cole who is played by Joshua Jackson (who, I have to admit is looking also pretty yum and does not remind you of Pacey at all) and the show follows their stories, through different point of views. (You can catch this show on Sky or Now TV).

Another one that's on Sky, but OH MY GODDDD I love love love this show. Any fan of Sherlock needs to get their eyes on Elementary as it's a modern day rendition. Watson is played by the gorgeous-I-can't-stop-staring-at-her-coz-she's-so-beaut Lucy Liu.
But instead of Baker Street, it's set in New York. As you would expect, they solve crimes whilst aiding NYPD's Capt. Gregson and Detective Bell. Even Moriarty (Natalie Dormer) and Mycroft (Rhys Ifans) make an appearance.

I'm catching up with Season 4 at the moment as Season 5 is on now...bye bye weekends!

Death in Paradise

SERIES 6 HAS STARTED. I recently found out that Death in Paradise is one of the most viewed BBC shows?! However this shouldn't surprise me at all. This is another murder mystery show starring Nick from My Family, (Kris Marshall) as Humphrey and Jos├ęphine Jobert as Florence. Fans of Red Dwarf will also know that Danny John-Jules is in this as ladies man Dwayne Myers.

Now this show to me - is perfection. It's got the right combination that makes a great show. 1) The location (it's filmed in Guadeloupe), and 2) Drama (there's always the murder that always gets solved). You know what, it's not even one of those 'gritty' tough dramas and that's not what pulls you in. It's the diet coke of murder dramas.

It's just a great show that makes for very easy watching and this one makes my list because it's *almost* a guilty pleasure.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Netflix you bae - when did you put this up?! I only spotted this last week and I was like, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!? I've held back on buying this on iTunes as I never got round to it (and because it was quite pricey to buy) and thank god because nowwwwwwww I don't need to. It's all here and I've added to My List. Pronto.

This show shouldn't need any introduction but just in case you've been living under a rock since the 90's, this show features Will Smith who plays...Will Smith. A teen from Philadelphia who ends up living with his aunt and uncle and his three cousins in their mansion in Bel-Air, Los Angeles. Cue very funny moments.

Now, everyone sing it with me...Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down...

Ex on The Beach
Don't judge me.

The new series of Ex on The Beach starts on Tuesday. I cannot wait. This type of show is pure trash but I don't care. Honestly, I love reality TV.  My friend Sharn introduced me to the last series whilst I came over to visit her and as she made dinner (yum - spag bol) she decided we needed some 'background tv'. Cue 2.5 hours later, and we were still watching these people getting up to their crazy antics and trying to decipher who was getting with's exhausting trying to even keep up. Still, definitely worth it for the catty moments. Roll on Tuesdayyyyy!

So, what are you watching at the moment? Let me know if you got any good shows I need to get in on..!
