Weekly Round Up: 8th Jan 2017

Oh hey there! How has your 2017 been so far?

I hope everyone has been eased back into work gently and you survived the first week?

I could only wish I could say the same! Work has been so busy (they should make it mandatory that the first week back is a 'no meetings so I can catch up on my to dos' week!) and I've been wanting to face plant my desk when I get all stressed but I've been counteracting it by making myself a nice peppermint tea and taking deep breaths every time I feel like I need to refocus.

I've counted down the days until the weekend and it's felt like the longest week ever (even though we only had a four day working week?!) I've been thinking about introducing some new posts during the week so it would be ace if you guys let me know what you think by leaving a comment below!

So, without ado - I'm going to do a post every Sunday just to round up on my favourite things during the week.

Glamour Magazine's new bigger size

I've read Glamour since I was 11 years old. I definitely wasn't their target demographic at that age but I LOVED magazines. Scrap that, I still LOVE magazines. I read every type of women's magazine I could get my hands on when I was a lot younger and I remember when Glamour was the first magazine to be printed in the compact handbag size (I even remember they had a TV to introduce the first issue!) They recently made the decision to go to the standard bigger magazine size and I love it. In a world where magazines are folding due to the lack of sales and everything seems to be going digital nowadays, its fantastic to still see magazines I grew up with thrive. Long live print!

Radox Muscle Soak Baths

On New Year's Eve I woke up with that familiar feeling of grogginess and a tickly sore throat...I know what this meant - the beginnings of a cold :( I had to cancel my plans because I felt blehhhh and ended up staying in bed with my hot water bottle and watching good ol' Robbie Williams on the Beeb before the countdown. This soak has saved me twice this week, since my body's been aching and a good bath always seems to sort it out! Bath + Elementary on the iPad = win.

Oliver Bonas Indian Pomelo Candle

I once bought this on a whim in the Finchley Road branch whilst waiting for a friend to arrive for a cheeky Wagamama catch up date and I've never forgotten the unique scent. The scent is quite strong, so you don't even need to burn it and it will still make the room smell fab. Seriously though, it's so fresh and zingy. I wish I could upload a scent,  but until the day when we can do that, just trust me - you need this. Oliver Bonas have a sale at the moment where I picked up this bad boy...!

Yesterday I went to see Kiki at her home in Paddington and met her family who were so welcoming. Thank you Kiki for those sexy ginger biscuits... I can't stop thinking about them! We caught up over tea and a dog walk with her two French bulldogs and I had a lovely day out. There was a florist cart just outside her home and I spied some eucalyptus in their bunches and thought I'd treat the house. I love the eucalyptus smell and I'm not sure if they go with tulips, but YOLO. I love how they brighten up the living room.

DSLR and my new lens

For the past couple of years I've been using my Sony RX100, and I've neglected my Canon DSLR because I've found it easier to bring the compact camera with me everywhere I went instead of lugging the DSLR but I've been inspired recently to work on my photography. I'm a rookie and I want to spend more time learning how to take beautiful pictures, composition and general technique. I wanted to start with a new pancake lens (I got the  Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 II Lens) and I've only taken a few test shots so far but I can't wait to learn more about the lens and try out how to make the most of this prime lens...
