Heart to Heart

I don't know about you, but I for one am SO glad we are done with January.
It feels like it has been the longest month ever and this winter chill has definitely got to me (as much as I love a good knit and a hot Ribena, I am dying for some warmer weather and to be able to wear flats without freezing to death!
It's been a pretty busy month, work has been full on, and I've been rushing about trying to catch up with everyone and I've been keeping busy but generally I'm feeling kinda, well, lacklustre to be honest.

So I thought it was time for a bit of a heart to heart, get it all out there.

January, I feel, is the month to 'renew' yourself, to make resolutions, and to better one's self. But to be honest, I've been feeling like I've lost my oomph.

Everything has been a bit full on since coming back from Australia, and it's been a hard and longgggg month and I haven't had much time to unwind.

Last weekend was the first weekend where I had a bit of time to myself and do what I needed to do.

Have hot baths, made marshmallow rice krispies, had take out (poke bowls are my latest thing), and watching films, bad TV and playing LA Noire.

I've been reading more too, I'm currently flitting between two books at the moment and they are both fantastic and there's something just great about getting stuck into a good book.

Simply, I just needed the time to feel better. To recuperate.

I've had some time this weekend to reflect and to think about my goals, what do I want, and what do I want to achieve?

I know it's a bit late to make resolutions, so these are more like, personal mantras that I want to share with you.

And they aren't just for 2018, but for beyond.

  • Own it - you got this, so stop doubting yourself. Whatever happens in the future, will be and you will make the most of what comes your way.
  • Don't listen to the haters - there will be some people who will tell you that you can't do it. Don't listen to them. You can do it, and you are doing it.
  • Stop comparing, right now - it's never good to compare yourself with other people, everyone has their own demons so run at your own speed, remember you are doing just fine.
  • Just do it - Go for it. Say 'yes'. I know that anxiety might creep up on you sometimes, like the feeling when you rock up to a party a bit too early and don't know anyone? Smile, throw yourself into the deep end and mingle. Just go for it, you'll have a good time, promise.
  • Exercise your creativity - with anything. Sing, dance, act, take photos, paint, blog - exercise your mind and your right to be creative. You have it in you.
  • Unwind, and read - As much as we all love Insta, Snap and Twitter, just take some time to switch off. Turn off your phone, grab a book and a glass of malbec, and let your mind go where the story takes you.
