Iceland - Part 1

One thing I didn’t expect, was just how stunning Iceland is.

I mean sure, the lure of the northern lights and the geothermal spas are enough to make anyone want to go but, here’s a word of advice: bring dosh.

Iceland is the third most expensive country to visit, where, a not-quite-a-full-pint beer will cost you a whole £10.

That’s right, you’d better dig deep into the pockets for this kind of holiday.
But, what you do get in return is a beautiful country, full of things to see (geysirs, hot springs, waterfalls)...

I'm going to post a series of photos diaries, well, because I think a picture can describe things much better than words can sometimes, especially in a country as stunning as Iceland

Cam had already visited Iceland back in 2015 and I had always been envious of his photos. He didn't see the northern lights the first time round, so we thought another trip back was in order.

But this time, we were travelling with my good friends, Hol and Flo.

After 4 hours sleep (we watched musical Hamilton before heading straight out to a hotel at Gatwick Airport and sleeping for around four hours before our 8am flight (death!!!).

We arrived just before noon, picked up our rental car and we were off! First stop was to the Blue Lagoon.

I have never seen anything quite like this before...

After a lot of photo opps, we decided we wanted to drive into Reykjavik where we were staying to check out the local sights and shops.

This beauty, is Hallgrímskirkja church, one of the main landmarks of Iceland.

I have to admit I saw photos and wasn't too excited about it until that is, I saw it up close!

The architecture is simply beautiful.

Inside as well as out.

We walked to the harbour, and warmed up with beers and hot chocolate...

...before stopping and taking in some more sights.

The next day we hopped in the car and drove further afield...

Goofing around in Thingvellir National Park.

Have you ever seen anything this beaut?
Icelandic horses are adorable. We drove past a group of horses and I had to get out. The guys stayed in the car but I couldn't resist given them a stroke or two and capturing a photo...

Last stop: Geysir!
 Wait for it...

Next up...Photo diary part 2
